They're He-ere!!!
Can you guess? Yes, finally, after seven long weeks of waiting, my new couches have finally arrived!! But perhaps, before I show you them in my living room (woohoo!) I should explain the source of my giddy excitement. You see, we have never had new living room stuff, in all the 20 years of our marriage. Couch #1 was a 60's turquoise hideabed. #2 was a pastel and grey yard sale find. #3, our most recent, was bought, used, 15 years and 6 kids ago. Here is the old thing: it served us well, but is now fallen apart in every possible way. (The photo is being kind).
Here are the guys bringing in my new stuff. I had to chuckle when I saw them. I'd been imagining hulking football player type delivery guys. Instead, here came a couple of 130 lb guys that were shorter than me. However, they did the job easily. I am grateful.
And here, finally, is my living room in all its glory.

Yeah for you!! You will love the leather!
Wow, those are gorgeous!
I'm from the land of hand-me-down furniture, too. And although I have very nice hand-me-downs, I would love somehthing new.
So happy for you, Mary!
I love the new leather!!! Very good taste. Your little girls is adorable! Thanks for visiting my blog.
Beautiful furniture! I find getting new furniture so exciting. It doesn't happen often though...that must be why it's so exciting to me. LOL!
Beautiful!!
Yeah for new stuf!!!!
Yay for new furniture! Enjoy! :-)
WOW! They are beautiful! :-)
it's beautiful!!!
so exciting. :)
Beautiful! I can relate--we've "only" been married almost 19 years and have yet to get our first new couch!
I've never had new furniture, either, and I've been married almost 21 years, too. You go, girl! :)
I did notice the change from cloth to vinyl or leather. Would that have anything at all to do with the youngun's? LOL :)
They do look good in that living room, and they look comfortable, too. I'm happy for you, Mary. I'm sure it's worth the sacrifice, too.
It's beautiful....and you've been quite encouraging!!!! We have NOT been married even close to 20 yrs : ), but a lot of our friends have new furniture, so it's always a little embarrassing (my pride) to have them to OUR home b/c we live SO MUCH DIFFERENTLY! I'm thankful to know we aren't alone!!!! : ) And hope that one day we can have new, clean, "chosen", new furniture! : ) Congrats!!!
Gorgeous home Mary! I love the couches!
oh that is SO exciting....most of our furniture is hand downs or 2nd hand too....I bought my first brand new appliance in Jan (we been married over 10 years)....a new fridge...a HUGE one so I don't have to have 2 fridges...and now we are selling our house and I told my hubby the fridge is coming with us!! I don't want to part with it so soon!
Is that ... LEATHER!?!?!
If so... I'm soooo jealous!
So beautiful and it looks great in the room, too!
We had just bought some of our first new furniture when a year later we decided to do the missions thing in Tanzania and we sold it all! Now, since our departure has been delayed, we're back to a few pieces of used furniture, but mostly just living out of boxes. It's like we're newly married all over again!
Wow! Your new furniture is beautiful!! I am probably going to have to wait a long time too before we ever see any new sofas around here. Your blog is so neat. I am going to have to read more to find out about your children. How neat to have such a diverse family. I really want to adopt someday and my husband is just now coming around to the idea. I am impressed that you have 8 children too! Wow, you are a busy mama.
oooo, I would LOVE to have new couches, but am waiting until we are done potty training all the kids first!! Too many accident experiences here!!
Oh I want leather sofas someday too. Those are beautiful. You deserve them!
How shallow am I that I finally leave a comment and it's on the leather couches post?
Seriously though, I'm so excited for you. They're awesome. We've been married 4.5 years and are on our 4th set of free couches. We keep getting better free ones. I think the ones we got this week may stick until we can afford great ones like those.
hooray- they look fabulous!
oh yeah! now remember what those cushions look like, because if your house is like mine - they'll never look like that again.
but the couches... sleek gorgeous and chic. well done!
