You Put A Song In My Heart

So here's the deal, peeps. Crazy wild busy weekend coming up for me here. Lots of fun stuff planned. A wedding being the highlight. And a gazillion smaller wedding-related events surrounding the wedding. Basically my weekend is gone. In the nicest possible way.

So. I'm taking a little break here. But I don't want you to forget about me while I'm off playing, so I have an idea for weekend entertainment.

I don't think I've mentioned this to you, but I have this crazy/wierd thing with songs. My husband accuses me of being part canary. If it rains, I sing, 'Ain't Gonna Rain no More, no More.." If a kid is grumpy, depending on my mood I might burst into 'Count Your Blessings' --- OR "Nobody Knows the Trouble I've Seen" (no, not the nice Louis Armstrong version, the really dumb one from the old show HeeHaw-- anybody remember that one?? I find it incredibly scary that I remember that show. Warped, I am.)

It's so bad my one year old will sometimes put her little index finger on my mouth and say, 'shhhh.' Hubby swears I have a song for every occasion. But I want MORE. Here's the deal: I'm hoping you can introduce me to some songs I don't know.

And it's a contest. For the purposes of this contest, let's stay roughly in three categories: folk songs, kids songs, and Sunday-School songs. Like I said, a song gets into my head and I sing it to my kids! You can only get away with something like "Rock Me Like A Hurricane" for a little while, then pretty soon you realize they're accidentally getting their sex-ed from some stupid song mom is belting out and shouldn't be. I've been there and I just don't want to go there again...

So, back to the game. Give me some of your favorite fun-for-kids songs. Only one song per comment. Yes, I'm dreaming of lots of comments!! And I'm giving out points!

---One point if you are first to mention a song
---One more point if I don't know it.
---And two MORE points if you supply me with lyrics or a weblink to lyrics, or an mp3 or something cool like that.

Five points if you call me on the phone and hum me a few bars (Kidding about that last one, just kidding. Hubby would skin me if I gave out our phone number!)

So, you can get a total of 4 points for each song. It's OK to supply the lyrics to someone else's song if they didn't do it in their comment about that song. The person who ends up with the most points gets a spot on my sidebar for a week. (maybe I should change my Golden Keyboard Award to the Golden Songbird Award for this week...hehe)

So, does it sound like fun? I'm hoping I'm not the only song-lover in the bunch... and hoping when I get back here my blog won't be just dead from loneliness and neglect. So go think of some songs. Come back and tel me about 'em, OK?

And have a great weekend without me.... I'll tell ya all about the wedding when I come up for air! I'm off to buy my son dress shoes and find a camisole to go under my (shockingly!) low-cut blouse and a gazillion other things....

Oh, and here's ONE link to help ya out!

Oh, YES! You KNOW I'm going to like this challenge! I sing to my boys all the time, so I've found some great songs and places on the web to learn them. Here's my first offering: Alphabet Song, http://www.niehs.nih.gov/kids/lyrics/alphlove.htm

I've also heard Seamus Kennedy perform Dr. Seuss' "Waltzing with Bears", bought the tape (back when...), and now sing the song to my boys. They LOVE it.

Lyrics: http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=126615

Tune: can't find a midi on it.
Would have to call and sing it for you. ;)

Oooh! Here is someone elses' version of it: http://www.luicollins.com/album_notes/sounds/bears2.ram

Yeah!

Then I hate to admit it, but one of the boys' favorite Christmas (and the rest of the year) songs is Grandma Got Runover by a Reindeer.

Just sang this one to my husband yesterday, when we accidentally locked him out and then took way too long getting to the door while he was knocking and yelling. (In a nice way of course.)

Be Patient
Be patient
Don't be in such a hurry.
When you are
impatient
you only start to worry
REMEMBER!
REMEMBER!(This part has to be sung loud and obnoxiously.)
God is patient too.
Aaaaaand think of all the times
when others
have to wait for you.

(I had actaully forgotten about that song from years ago, and never taught it to my kids until yesterday.)

I suppose "Baby's Got Back" probably wouldn't be one you're looking for, huh? Yeah, right. Okay, okay....let me think....

One I sing around the house fairly regularly is "Don't Wanna Miss a Thing", by Aerosmith. It's kinda romantic, but it certainly has some very sweet mom sentiment going for it. Here are the lyrics:

I could stay awake just to hear you breathing
Watch you smile while you are sleeping
While you're far away and dreaming
I could spend my life in this sweet surrender
I could stay lost in this moment forever
Every moment spent with you is a moment I treasure

Don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
I'd still miss you baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing

Laying close to you
Feeling your heart beating
And I'm wondering what you're dreaming
Wondering if it's me you're seeing
Then I kiss your eyes
And thank God we're together
I just want to stay with you in this moment forever
Forever and ever

I don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
I'd still miss you baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing

I don't wanna miss one smile
I don't wanna miss one kiss
And I just wanna be with you
Right here with you just like this
I just wanna hold you close
I feel your heart so close to mine
And just stay here in this moment for all the rest of time
Yeah (yeah) yeah (yeah) yeah

Don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
I'd still miss you baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing

I don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
But I'd still miss you baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing

I don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep, yeah
And I don't wanna miss a thing

And how about "Every Kind of People", by Robert Palmer?

Said the fight to make ends meet
Keeps a man upon his feet
Holding down his job
Trying to show he can’t be bought

Ooh it takes every kinda people
To make what life’s about, yeah
Every kinda people
To make the world go ‘round

Someone’s looking for a lead
In his duty to a King or to a creed
Protecting what he feels is right
Fights against wrong with his life

There’s no profit in deceit
Honest men know that
Revenge does not taste sweet
Whether yellow, black or white
Each and every man’s the same inside

It takes every kinda people
To make what life’s about, yeah
It takes every kinda people
To make the world go ‘round
Doo doo doo......

You know that love’s the only goal
That could bring a peace to any soul
Hey and every man’s the same
He wants the sunshine in his name

It takes every kinda people
To make what life’s about, yeah
It takes every kinda people
To make the world go ‘round
mmmm, every kinda people
To make what life’s about

How about Elvis Costello's "When That I Was And A Little Tiny Boy"?

It goes like this...

When that I was and a little tiny boy
With a Hey-ho
The wind and the rain
A foolish thing was but a toy
For the rain it raineth
Every day
But when I came to man's estate
With a Hey-ho
The wind and the rain
'Gainst knaves and thieves men shut their gate
For the rain it raineth
Every day

But when I came alas to wife
With a Hey-ho
The wind and the rain
By swaggering I could never fright
For the rain it raineth
Every day

But when I came unto my bed
With a Hey-ho
The wind and the rain
With tosspots still a drunken head
For the rain it raineth
Every day

A great while ago the world began
With a Hey-ho
The wind and the rain
But that's all one our play is done
And we'll strive to please you
Every day

I often use this one for a setback in the routine--
Artist: Israel Kamakawiwo Ole' who was a beloved son of Hawaii.
Sadly, Brudder Iz passed away in 1997.

Song: Starting All Over Again

Starting all over again is going to be rough
For us, we're going to make it
Starting all over as friends is going be tough
On us, we gotta face it

We lost what we had
That would hurt us so bad
Set us back a thousand years
But we going to make it up
Though I know it's going to be tough
To erase the hurt and fears

Starting all over again is going to be hard
But I pray to the Lord to help us make it
Starting all over again is going to slow
But we both know, we gonna make it

We gotta take life as it comes
Never fuss about it, what's right or wrong
It's an uphill climb, to the finish line
We gonna try, we gonna try, just one more time

We gotta take life as it comes
Don't make any fuss about it, what's right or wrong
We gonna make it up, though I know it's gonna be rough
To erase the hurt and fears

Starting all over again is going to be rough
For us, we're going to make it
Starting all over as friends is going be tough
On us, we gotta face it

Ok, I don't sing the entire song, but when we are out for a walk or crossing the street, or whatever, I always sing this part of the Beatles "I want to hold your hand"

I never knew the lyrics to the whole song, and now that I have read them, I would so not sing them to my kids. But I like this part anyway.

I'll tell you something
I think you'll understand
When I say that something
I want to hold your hand
I want to hold your hand
I want to hold your hand

http://www.stevesbeatles.com/songs/i_want_to_hold_your_hand.asp

This is the link to the lyrics and stuff. I have no working speakers right now, so I can't find a link with the music...

Okay, I thought of one that I sang to my son the other day, when he was complaining about eating his food! But the entire lyrics don't fit, just the chorus: "Take it like a man! Steady and strong, not a lotta fuss and carryin' on!" Okay, only part of the chorus fits, but it made him laugh and eat his food! It makes my husband clam up too when he moans about changing diapers! Hey, I should make my own lyrics for that one (men changing diapers)! Any points? " Change it like a man! Steady and strong. Not a lotta fuss and carryin' on.... If you want this woman's heart, change it like a man!" Great idea here!

Well first of all I have to mention that I, too, sing the Hee Haw song. I believe you are referring to Gloom! Despair! And A-Go-Nee on me! Yes??

But the song I would like to add is the chorus which goes thusly:

You can't always get what you wa-ant!
You can't always get what you wa-ant!
You can't always get what you wa-ant.
And if you try sometimes...
You get sent to bed! Oh yea-ah!

So I changed the last line... so what! ;-) It's very educational for my boys.

One more on the sweeter side...

My boys' favorite for me to sing to them is SnugglePuppy by Sandra Boynton. It's off the Philadelphia Chickens album which is Fan-double-Tastic. (and on itunes, by the way) I normally don't go for things done by celebs - but who knew Eric Stoltz could croon so sweetly... The song goes:

Well I have a thing to tell you
And it won't take long
The way I feel about you
Is a kind of a song
It starts with an Oooo
And ends with a kiss
And all along the middle it goes something like this, it goes

Oooo SnugglePuppy of mine
The way I feel about you is especially fine
I love what you are
I love what you do
Fuzzy little Snuggle Puppy
I love you
It goes
Ooooo Snuggly Puppy of mine
Everything about you is especially fine
I love what you are
I love what you do
Oooo I love you. [kiss]

OH MY GOSH JEANA!! Wasn't that Music Machine! I have NEVER heard anyone else quote lyrics from that record!!!

On to the contest...I never win them...but I'll try. And since I can't even remember the title of this song, I will never win....

"So I never will forget
I sing a little song
And that song always reminds me that
God loves me.
And it's always better yet
When someone sings along
So two of us can know
About God's love."

That's all I know, but it always cheers me up. And I can call you up and sing it if you like for bonus points!! OR WHEN YOU GET TO IDAHO!!!!!!

My kids just LOVE it when I sing the "Good Morning" song (from "Singing in the Rain") to them in the mornings:

And then I sing the song from "Rawhide" when we're trying to get out the door:

http://www.lyricsondemand.com/tvthemes/rawhidelyrics.html

Then when I REALLY want to make the older ones roll their eyes, I sing Barney's "Clean Up" song to them...you know, "Clean up, clean up/everybody everywhere/clean up, clean up/everybody do your share." You can imagine how cool an 8-year-old boy thinks THAT song is.

My kids love The David Crowder Band (just like their mom!). They willl always as for "Davie Cowder" Their favorite is Here is our King

Here is our King
Here is our Love
Here is our God whos come to bring us back to him
He is the One
He is Jesus

Doesnt really fit in any category, but is fun to watch them dance to! And there isnt anything cuter than watching 3 year olds sing it and point to the sky for Jesus

Okay, this is outside the rules, but for the 80's and 90's people out there (kate) I HAVE to tell you this: remember that MC Hammer song, Can't Touch This? He kept saying "Stop! Hammer time." My friend would always say at bedtime "Stop! 'jama time." (pajamas) and when her little girl was potty training she would sing "Who let the poop out?" (Who Let the Dogs Out)

AND I think it's so funny that you mentioend Rock You Like a Hurricane. Did you read my story about playing that on a child's xylophone? And one Sunday Dawson sang two songs for his SS teacher: Nothin But the Blood of Jesus, and Superfreak. Little sponges, they are.

Sorry, Mary, I'm wearing out my welcome, but this is too fun! Remember that other 80's song Safetydance? Scott always sings that (along with shaka Khan, but that's another story) and the first line says, "We can dance if we want to; we can leave your friends behind. 'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance well they're...no friends of mine." My kids always sing that, but substitute for dance whatever we're doing at the moment; eat, clean, drive, skate...the list goes on and on.

"Warped, I am"

I read this and "heard" in in Yoda's voice. Too funny!!!

I sing "Stand up, stand up for Jesus" when I'm dressing my son and I need him to stand still. :)

These are the verses I know well enough to sing (and therefore type):

Stand up, stand up for Jesus, ye soldiers of the cross;
Lift high His royal banner, it must not suffer loss.
From victory unto victory His army shall He lead,
Till every foe is vanquished, and Christ is Lord indeed.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus, the trumpet call obey;
Forth to the mighty conflict, in this His glorious day.
Ye that are His now serve Him against unnumbered foes;
Let courage rise with danger, and strength to strength oppose.

Another one is "Jesus Loves Me" - an old Baptist staple that I grew up with. I've been singing Jonathan to sleep with that one since he was a few days old.

Jesus loves me! This I know,
For the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong;
They are weak, but He is strong.

Refrain

Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.

Jesus loves me! He who died
Heaven’s gate to open wide;
He will wash away my sin,
Let His little child come in.

"I Wish I Was A Honasorarius" (spelling?) This is a really old girl scout camp song that I learned from my mother who learned it from hers. It's funny.

I wish I was a Honasorarius, a Rippamatadame, ha ha ha ha.
But since I'm not and I never can hope to be a Honasorarius, a Rippamatadame,
I'm a June Bug, I'm a Beetle,
I buzz and hit my head against a tree, ha ha ha ha.

I wish I was a Honasorarius, a Rippamatadame, ha ha ha ha.
But since I'm not and I never can hope to be a Honasorarius, a Rippamatadame,
I'm a Boon Jug, I'm a Tee-bull,
I huzz and bit my tead against a bree, ha ha ha ha!

I tried to find a midi for this, but I think it's just too old.

I'm being swallowed by a boa constrictor
I'm being swallowed by a boa constrictor
And I don't like it very much!

Oh no, oh no, he swallowed my toe,
he swallowed my toe
Oh gee, oh gee, he's up to my knee,
he's up to my knee
Oh fiddle, oh fiddle, he's reached my middle,
he's reached my middle
Oh heck, oh heck, he's up to my neck,
he's up to my neck
Oh dread, oh dread, he swallowed my.... schlirppp!

My absolute favorite children's lullaby of all time from "Dumbo" - "Baby Mine"

Baby mine, don't you cry
Baby mine, dry your eyes
Rest your head close to my heart
Never to part, baby of mine
Little one when you play
Don't you mind what you say
Let those eyes sparkle and shine
Never a tear, baby of mine
If they knew sweet little you
They'd end up loving you too
All those same people who scold you
What they'd give just for
The right to hold you
From your head to your toes
You're not much, goodness knows
But you're so precious to me
Cute as can be, baby of mine

Down By the Bay

Written By: Unknown

Down by the bay
Where the watermelons grow
Back to my home
I dare not go
For if I do
My mother will say
"Did you ever see a bear
Combing his hair
Down by the bay?"

Down by the bay
Where the watermelons grow
Back to my home
I dare not go
For if I do
My mother will say
"Did you ever see a bee
With a sunburned knee
Down by the bay?"

Down by the bay
Where the watermelons grow
Back to my home
I dare not go
For if I do
My mother will say
"Did you ever see a moose
Kissing a goose
Down by the bay?"

Down by the bay
Where the watermelons grow
Back to my home
I dare not go
For if I do
My mother will say
"Did you ever see a whale
With a polka dot tail
Down by the bay?"

This was a favourite when my kids were little. This is also a great lyrics site which I discovered when googling this song.

Seasons of Love....yes some of the other songs from the musical are rather risque but not this one....listen to the words, it is a song of praise.
You know that love is a gift from up above...share the love, give love, spread the love, measure life in love!

all five of my kids will sing this and now they all know that there are five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes in a year. Nothing makes me smile wider than to see my baby boy sing it with a big smile on his face and his hands raised up in praise just like his mama does when she sings it. When we sing it in our house it is church!

My little boy and I also sing the club wedd target jungle to eachother all the time because it is our song and the song mommy auditioned for Manteca Idol 1 with...I was a finalist.

I love to be with you
I love you love love I do
I love to be with you
You know I love you I do
I'm gonna make you mine
mine all mine
you and me baby we'll shine!
I love to be with you
I love you love you love you love youlove you love you love you love you
I DO!

What fun! I usually only remember snatches of songs, but I am singing them constantly, driving my boys nuts. A lot of kids' songs from my childhood tv shows (Electric Company and School House Rock, mostly - if someone says "Hey!" or "Wow!" I just HAVE to start singing "INTERJECTIONS!

ack, my fingers went spastic and I somehow posted that, I wasn't finished.

Here's a song I learned from my kids' Sabbath School class:

One two three, Jesus loves me!
One two, Jesus loves you!
Two three four, He loves you more
Than you've ever been loved before;
Five six seven, we're going to Heaven;
Eight nine, simply divine;
Nine ten, let's sing it again!

This is the first time I've visited your blog and what a fun first visit! :-)

How about:

The Lord's Army

I may never march in the infintry
Ride in the calvary
Shoot the artilery
I may never fly oer the enemy
But I'm in the Lord's Army
YES SIR!

I'm in the Lord's Army
YES SIR!
I'm in the Lord's Army
YES SIR!

I may never march in the infintry
Ride in the Calvary
Shoot the artilery
I may never fly o'er the enemy
But I'm in the Lord's Army!
YES SIR!!

And here's another one:

I want to be a worker for the Lord

I want to be a worker for the Lord,
I want to love and trust His holy word,
I want to sing and pray and be busy every day,
In the vineyard of the Lord.

I will work, I will pray, In the vineyard, in the vineyard of the Lord.
I will work, I will pray, I will labor every day in the vineyard on the Lord.

I want to be a worker strong and brave,
I want to trust in Jesus? power to save.
All who will truly come shall find a happy home.
In the kingdom of the Lord.

Addition to Jeana's song, which I TOO sing all the stinking time...

When Herbert was much younger, he often got in trouble,
Forgetting that he was a snail, he did things on the double.
He'd crash through every spider web and with crickets he'd collide,
Till one day Herbert's father took his speeding son aside...

Now, insert Jeana's part of the song.

Love the Music Machine!!!

My 3 yr olds current fav - "God is big! God is berry, berry, berry, berry big! God is big!" (It's much cuter when she sings it though...)

My 5 yr olds fav - "SpongeBob second season, SpongeBob second season. Now on D-V-D-eee, Now on D-V-D-eee. Are you ready? Are you ready? SpongeBob second season, SpongeBob second season..." (Needless to say this one is driving me crazy, yet I keep finding myself singing it!!)

My 8 yr olds fav - "Life is good, eternal life is better" Who sings this?? I can't remember...

My current fav - "I am free to run. (echo - I am free to run) I am free to dance (echo - I am free to dance). I am free to live for You (echo - I am free to live for you)! I am free! (echo - I am free!)" Again, don't know who sings it...

How about:

"I'm a little coconut,
I live in a coconut grove.
Everybody steps on me,
That is why I'm cracked, you see.

Honk, honk, rattle rattle rattle crash beep beep...4X

Called myself up on the phone,
Just to see if I was home.
Asked myself out on a date--
Gotta be ready by half past eight.

Honk, honk...etc.

Took myself to a picture show,
Sat myself on the very first row.
Wrapped my arms around my waist,
Got so fresh I slapped my face.

Honk, honk...etc.

Here's a link--not the chorus I learned tho. http://www.scoutorama.com/dynso337.htm

And my kids love/hate it when I sing:

I love you,
A bushel and a peck,
A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck,
A hug around the neck and a barrel and a heap,
Barrel and a heap and I'm talkin' in my sleep
About you...about you.

(Extra high voice)
The cows and the chickens
Are goin' to the dickens, 'cause

I love you,
A bushel and a peck,
You bet your pretty neck I do,
Doodle oodle oodle...3X

My mom used to sing it to me!
It's from the musical Guys & Dolls.

And I can't resist adding this one, if I can even remember it, because I could find NO lyrics for it anywhere on the internet. But isn't this a GEM? (It's so CHEESY!)

I'm just a little feller
But I always hope to be
A cowboy sticking close to
The man from Galilee.
And pardner all I want to do
Is satisfy my Boss
And be the bestest Christian boy
Who ever rode a hoss.

I'll be a cowboy
A Christian cowboy,
I'll rope for Jesus all my days.
And in the country
Or in the city
I'll help him round up all the strays.

My brother sang this as a solo in church when he was about 7! I think it was from a children's songbook put out by the Gaithers, maybe--anybody else remember them?
Aren't they the ones who also put out:

I am a Promise
I am a Possibility
I am a Promise
With a capital P
I am a great big bundle of
Potentiality....

Yes, I guess they are: http://www.zondervan.com/cultures/

Ok I know I'm like number 56 or something like that but I just have to share about my singing hubby. He is you - has a song for every occasion, my most favourite are when he's preaching (he's a pastor). He'll be talking about a subject like Feelings...in the middle of his message he'll burst out, "Feelings, nothing more than feelings..." or if he's talking about relationships, "Looking for love in all the wrong places..." or on selfishness, "I'll do it my way..." I'm sure visitors don't know what to think of him at times. It does make the service light and enjoyable though and I'd never want him to stop, it's a part of who he is.

Good Morning Song

Good morning! Good morning! Good morning!
It's time to rise and shine!
Good morning! Good morning! Good morning!
We hope you're feeling fine!
Time to wake up sleepy head!
Time to get up out of bed!
Good morning! Good morning! Good morning!
It's time to rise and shine!

This is the good morning song I wake my teen aged AND adult children with every morning! I began singing it to my daughter to gently wake her up when she was a little girl. Used it with my boys as well...and they still smile (they are 25, 23 and 14) when I break into their bedrooms in song!

It's a much more pleasant way to wake someone up ....than......GET OUTA BED! HOW MANY TIMES MUST I WAKE YOU!

:) Diane

I love another verse to "Jesus Loves Me" to the same melody as the other verses, of course.

Jesus, take this heart of mine,
Make it pure and wholly thine,
Thou hast bled and died for me,
I henceforth, will live for Thee!

It's such an awesome verse, and my kids are the only ones that know it...if yours do, that will significantly increase the likelihood of the rest of the kiddos learning it! Love ya :)

I love Raffi, and if you don't have his CD, you MUST get it!

Upbeat, fun, and perfect for you since you cook:

Biscuits in the Oven:

Biscuits in the oven, gonna watch 'em rise
Biscuits in the oven, gonna watch 'em rise
Biscuits in the oven, gonna watch 'em rise
Right before my very eyes.

When they get ready, gonna jump and shout (3x)
Roll my eyes and bug them out - hey, hey

Gonna clap my hands and stomp my feet (3x)
Right before the very next beat -

Biscuits in the oven, gonna watch 'em rise
Biscuits in the oven, gonna watch 'em rise
Biscuits in the oven, gonna watch 'em rise
Right before my very eyes.

Gonna look both ways when I cross the street (3x)
Gonna take my time when the light turns green.

Biscuits in the oven, gonna watch 'em rise
Biscuits in the oven, gonna watch 'em rise
Biscuits in the oven, gonna watch 'em rise
Right before my very eyes.

My most favorite folk singer in the whole world is Cat Stevens. One of the best songs to sing is "Morning Has Broken," and here are the lyrics:

Morning has broken, like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning
Praise for the springing fresh from the world

Sweet the rain's new fall, sunlit from heaven
Like the first dewfall, on the first grass
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden
Sprung in completeness where his feet pass

Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning
Born of the one light, Eden saw play
Praise with elation, praise every morning
God's recreation of the new day

I believe someone else wrote the lyrics but he sang them and the song is on the album, The Teaser & the Fire Cat. To hear it you can just go to Amazon and listen to a clip:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004T9W4/sr=84/qid=1144693554/ref=pd_bbs_4/103-3357117-9562243?%5Fencoding=UTF8

Another really awesome one (That includes clapping!) is "Peace Train," also by Cat Stevens, on the same album:

Now I've been happy lately, thinking about the good things to come
And I believe it could be, something good has begun

Oh I've been smiling lately, dreaming about the world as one
And I believe it could be, some day it's going to come

Cause out on the edge of darkness, there rides a peace train
Oh peace train take this country, come take me home again

Now I've been smiling lately, thinking about the good things to come
And I believe it could be, something good has begun

Oh peace train sounding louder
Glide on the peace train
Come on now peace train
Yes, peace train holy roller

Everyone jump upon the peace train
Come on now peace train

Get your bags together, go bring your good friends too
Cause it's getting nearer, it soon will be with you

Now come and join the living, it's not so far from you
And it's getting nearer, soon it will all be true

Now I've been crying lately, thinking about the world as it is
Why must we go on hating, why can't we live in bliss

Cause out on the edge of darkness, there rides a peace train
Oh peace train take this country, come take me home again

How about...

Bull frogs and butterflies... they've both been born again... EVERYBODY NOW...
Bull frogs and butterflies... they've both been born again...

Or...

Music machine, music machine, it's like no other gadget that you've ever seen... something, something, something, something, something... to sing a song... put something in it and a song will come out.

It goes, whir whir chika chika bong bong fffsssshhhh...
Whir whir chika chika bong bong fffsssshhhh...
If you want to hear a song...
Whir whir chika chika bong bong.

Oh, this is glorious. I sing ALL THE TIME too. A lot of mine have been mentioned already. We love Steve Green and the Hide Em in your Heart Bible verse memory songs he does.
http://www.worshipmusic.com/spd1245.html

Also a lot of the old songs that used to be on Sesame Street:
Fur, I'm covered in fur.
Don't you wish that you were
Simply covered in FUR FUR FUR!
Yes, fur is mar-fur-lous,
Fur is cle-fur
FUR-ther more you'll love it FURever
Fur, I'm just wild about fur

As well as the alligator king and a bunch of others. Here's a great site for lyrics:
